Only one way to get a burrito at Big City... Potatoes, chicken mole, pico, ranch, and strawberry habanero. Any other way and you are letting your self down! Heavenly. Don't try and make a traditional burrito here... It will be average. Get a potato burrito or don't get anything at all. You won't know how good a burrito can be until you try it.

Definitely one of, if not, the best burrito joints in town. Order the potato burrito on a jalapeño cheddar tortilla, add in some chicken molé, ranch, and strawberry jabbenaro and you won't leave disappointed! The special every Tuesday is an absolute steal.

Literally the greatest burrito I've ever had! So many options for tortillas, meat, and sauces. The potato burrito is delicious and worth every penny. Definitely lives up to the hype. So glad I went to Big City Burrito! Visited 09/05/15, a Saturday night at 8pm. Free parking in front, easily got a spot. 1 person in line. Casual, friendly staff and they offered good suggestions.

The hype is real. I had one of the best burritos of my life at BCB today. You can get a regular potato burrito and fountain drink for $3.99 with their Tuesday special, and it was absolutely worth it. Several options for tortillas (incl gluten free!), lots of meats, and several kinds of salsas make for an overwhelming first time, but grab one of their guides for assistance. I got a potato burrito with machaca and absolutely loved it. I could barely finish it. I was also eyeing some of their desserts but quickly discarded that plan. The line moves fast--we were standing in it for maybe 10 minutes. Definitely worth it!

The variety of tortillas alone is worth embarking on this massive undertaking of even the regular size burrito. This thing straight up sent me into a food coma. I had the chicken mole with potatoes on the jalapeño cheddar tortilla. The line might be out the door but there is a reason why.

You either love their style of burritos or you don't. They seem like they use quality ingredients and care, hence the 3 stars. They are just not on board with my flavor profile or ingredients I like in burritos. Maybe they've improved, it's been a while.

My husband grew up in Fort Collins and when we were here visiting this is the one place we absolutely had to eat at. Big City Burrito is definitely a gem in Fort Collins. This place has been here forever. It is definitely a little divey and grungy, but it all just adds to the flavor of their delicious burritos. I had a half chicken mole and half chicken bay leaf burrito on a jalapeno cheddar tortilla. They have a ton of different sauces to top everything off, I got the ranch, spicy ranch, and spicy green sauce and it was amazing. My husband had their most famous potato burrito. Those potatoes are little bites of heaven covered in delicious ranch. The prices are very reasonable, and on Tuesdays the potato burrito is only $4! You can make a million different combinations out of their delicious meats and sauces and I am sure you cannot go wrong.

It's been awhile since I've been in, but it's a great place to go when you want fast, pretty fresh, gut-filling burritos! My only complaint is the beans are so wet when the go into the burrito you better napkin up! I get burritos are messy, but a waterfall of burrito/bean juice is not super enjoyable! Add potatoes and the strawberry habanero hot sauce to just about anything on the menu and you can't go wrong!!!

I heard good things about this place from some locals right after I moved here and finally got around to going in. The menu was a little overwhelming and confusing at first since it seemed to be different than your typical burrito place, but the guys and gals behind the counter were patient and pleasant with me. Reasonably priced, delicious burrito! Not exceptionally mind-blowing, but good food. They wrap it really well and put it in a bag so it's perfect if you're going to eat it on the go or in the car. Will be back again!

I typically don't err on the side of corporations, specifically Large-Cap companies... namely Chipotle. Now, Chipotle is good... but I did not expect to say "stick to Chipotle" in lieu of Big City Burrito. I say that because, though these folks are trying to do the old-school burrito joint justice, I personally found my grub to be bland, chips extremely stale, and the ingredient quality lacking as a whole. Additionally, the meals here are not as affordable as I would have liked. Don't fret too much about trying to eat local... Chipotle down the road affords you better quality.

Love the food! Love love LOVE the Tuesday Crew! Great little neighborhood spot. Nothing fancy but always consistent and yummy.

If you don't know. . Now you know. Best all around burritos hands down. Potato burrito with ranch is so good and so the breakfast with bacon. Must try BCB if you have never had the chance

Tuesday is the best day to go. They have great burrito lunch specials on Tuesday. The only bad thing about the restaurant is ithat its a bit small and sometimes hard to find a place to sit and a bit disheveled. For just a buck or two more than taco bell you get a much better meal. Try it, (especially on tuesday) you will be a fan.

I have been to three Big City's. Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley. This comment only pertains to the one on College Ave. I have frequented this restaurant since the 90's and have always loved the food. I still go there but dread the inconsistencies in service, cleanliness, and ever fluctuating prices I am charged at the register. On a recent trip the gentleman behind the counter was making my burrito, with all his apron and plastic gloves on, when an older blonde haired lady, I'm assuming the owner, went back behind the counter, barked orders at the guy and started making a burrito for herself or friends that were present, all without any gloves or apron. I was very annoyed. Other occasions I cannot tell the difference between a super burrito and a regular burrito. My wife orders the regular and our burrito sizes are the same. Last time I was at the register, my price was over $19, and my wife and I order the exact burritos and drinks as the time before, which was a little over $15. I give Big City two stars because their food tastes great.; everything else lacks.

So I was never really a BC Burrito fan until I lived in Hawaii and found that they had a store there. It was like a slice of home but in Hawaii. Also it was the only place in HI for a decent burrito. Since I moved back though I am still a fan of BC Burrito's awesome burritos! My favorite is the Potato Burrito, which I usually add some chicken in there, with all kinds of sauces, Guac, sour cream, etc, and it becomes a big messy burrito that tastes amazing!!! Another thing I love from this place is their breakfast burrito, as there is no better way to start your day! I go for the chuorizo!!! Yum!!! All in all this is the FoCo corner stone of awesome burritos!!!

God damn I love this food! Any time I'm in FoCo I always swing by to grab a burrito. Fast service, good prices and great food- one of my favorites. Keep up the great work guys!

Old School Burritos at BCB. Nothing fancy, just good filling food. Service is fast, food is good and affordable; what more would you want? Did I mention that the portions are large and so many choices for ingredients (meat, rice, beans, salsas, guac, sour cream, etc.). Oh and did I mention that it is a value!!

  • Devon P.

ANY local will tell you after trying other burrito joints that THIS is the place to eat. The food is simply delicious and comes how you want. The local owner is friendly and down to earth, the staff is engaging, and Tuesday special is a can't miss!

  • Samuel D.

I have grown up in FOCO and have been to this location a ton! I will say that I only go on Tuesdays! That is when you have to go and get a regular potato burrito. They give you a drink to go with it and all for under 5 bucks. If you are a first timer here it may take a little getting up to speed with how to order - its not quite as obvious as the giant chains lay it out to be. Anyways, orders are fast and delicious and in all the times I've gone there I've rarely had a bland or forgettable burrito. Additionally, if you are from out of town this is a definite place to stop. I've been to some of their franchise locations and they aren't quite as good.

I got the classic potato burrito was not impressed. Had better luck with the strawberry filled churro. The strawberry habinro salsa was ok. Go Lobos....

Picked up burritos from Big City Burrito last night for the first time with a veteran visitor. It was pretty busy around 5:45 however I now understand why. I thought the potato burrito was great. I had it on a jalapeño cheddar tortilla with rice, beans, carne asada, pico and a little ranch. It was very filling and flavorful however with all the "extras" the price was a little surprising for two burritos. None the less a treat. I would definitely go here again however probably not too often.

Big City Burrito is known for their fried potato burrito but they have many other items on their menu that you might not find at other San Francisco style burrito places (Chipotle, Qdoba, Illegal petes, ect...) They have chicken mole and some other items that you might not find at other places. Overall I'd rate the franchise fairly highly for its food but this location is a poor example of it. This location feels somewhat dirty due to its small kitchen size and the staff isn't exceptionally friendly or rude, a solid 5/10 on service. My burrito was also of poor quality with overpowering onions taking over the entire flavor and older prefried potatoes on top of that once i reached the middle of the burrito most of what was in it was just ranch and sour cream, no real ingredients. I ate half and gave up because it was too creamy and soggy in the middle. Our visit was completely ruined however when we went to grab a table and we where rudely told the dining area was closed. This is while two groups of people are eating in there as we walked in and there were multiple free tables, as well as being over 2 hours from closing time. I guess you can only grab a table if you know the staff at night. We ended up eating on the street in front of the place despite planning to meet up there to eat there.

Once the novelty of the potato burrito wore off, I ventured into other fillings and it's like any other mediocre burrito place. Not that impressed. The potato burrito saves the place.

Best potato burrito I've ever eaten. Thinking about getting my whole office over here the next time we do lunch.

Best burrito I have ever eaten! Chicken mole and potatoes are the best. Come with a big tummy cause their burritos are huge!

Thanks for the food poisoning big city. Within an hour of eating my burrito, my stomach was churning and hurting. Needless to say, I couldn't work and be on the lhe toilet at the same time. Never again... Ouch

We moved to Washington last year and missed BCB trips. We came to visit today and this was the first place we went and they did not disappoint! Hubby got a gut buster and they made it as long as his forearm!

This is as close to a religious experience as I have ever had with a burrito. I live in Cleveland now and their menu is framed on my book case. Their meat is good, nothing exceptional to write home about, but I used to occasionally get the chicken mole. It's not bad by any means, I'm just not a meat person, but do yourself a favor and get a potato burrito. And don't try to be healthy--get the cheese, the sour cream, the rice, the beans, etc. Their homemade salsas are awesome. The burritos are huge. They have a wonderful selection of hot sauce to choose from. This place has been very crowded every time I have been. It is worth the wait, the noise, the crowds, and the hipsters to get a burrito here.

  • Ian J.

Best burrito in town and I'm not just saying that because it's a local place. Usually jammed and for good reason, especially on Tuesdays when they have their $4 potato burrito deal. Before Big City I didn't know how delicious a potato burrito could be. Now I don't even feel like I need meat in my burritos. There are so many options and everything is great. Definitely beats out Chipotle and Qdoba for the Fort Collins burrito crown.

    (4)
  • Samantha W.

Glorified overpriced Taco Bell. Their "super" apparently just has a bit more beans and rice, instead of every other Mexican place where super means sour cream and guacamole at the least. Their guacamole is super processed. No lettuce either. You're better off going to Chipotle where the ingredients are fresh and higher quality for the same price.

    (1)
  • Mora L.

My husband and I split one. WORST idea ever! We fought over it, and people were laughing around us as we demolished it in five minutes. Line was too long to wait again! Love the spices, potatoes, price. Simply a great burrito! Try it!

    (5)
  • Dave K.

This is easily my favorite burrito joint in Fort Collins. While it might not be as sparkly and clean as Chipotle, there is a bit more of scruffiness and character to the location (for example the painted murals, and a great deal of the clientele and staff sport some really awesome tattoos). Be warned though, it's an Americanized burrito joint. Yes, I know people put ranch dressing on the burritos, but since when is ethnic purity synonymous with quality? Trust me, it might not be the most Mexican burrito you've ever had, but the potato burritos are really good with a little spicy ranch and strawberry habanero sauce. Perhaps we should be a bit more open minded, rather than xenophobic about mixing flavors.

Big City is my first burrito love. Big City is the sole reason I love burritos! That is a lot to be responsible for! I always get a regular potato burrito with rice and lots of other fixings. I try to switch it up a little. Everything tastes delicious! This is not a gourmet place so don't come here expecting that. You can tell this place is an awesome place to be when the line is almost always out the door. You will likely wait and you will likely not find a table. But that doesn't matter - Big City is worth it. So worth it. I love Big City so much that when I moved to Hawaii I sought out the Big City in Honolulu. Honolulu's Big City has nothing on Fort Collins. Fort Collins Big City always will be the best Big City Burrito there is. Enough said.

  • Sarah S.

I always see a line out the door for this place so I thought I had to give it a try. The food is not terrible, but it's definitely not good -- and certainly not anything to line up around the block for. I tried their carne asada burrito with one of their fancy spicy tomato tortillas. The carne asada they serve is more like bland pot roast than grilled steak and the tortilla was just weird. The burrito I had basically tasted like a can of Campbell's vegetable beef soup. I honestly don't understand all the hype. I don't think any of their patrons have ever had a decent, authentic burrito.

  • Candice B.

Best burrito joint near by! Always worth the drive into town. This has always been my favorite burrito place since college. When I moved away I always looked forward to getting a Big City Burrito. It is a dangerous thing now that I have moved back to northern Colorado.

  • Luke H.

This is my go to spot for burritos. Chicken mole, jalapenos, red salsa, rice and potatos. You can't beat it! And it doesn't take long to get your food. Orderup delivers too.

  • Regina G.

"Big Shitty Burrito" (as another reviewer called it) was recommended to us so we decided to give it a shot. The place was dirty. The ingredients to make your burrito are lined up in front of a glass window (like chipotle) to choose from. It looked unsanitary and not at all appealing, mainly because food was scattered all over the place. The meat choices were hard and dried up. No lettuce? You pay extra for sour cream and guacamole. Let's just say, I can make better burritos at home for half the cost. Won't be back.

  • Larry E.

Big city is a staple in Fort Collins. If you havent gone, go! A lot of people will tell you different combos but breakfast, egg, potato, half bacon half carnes is the way to go on a spinach tortilla with med corn pico, hot green, tomitillo and lupe sauces! I am a man who eats here multiple times a week and a Fort collins native, I would not steer you wrong! :)

  • Carmen C.

Ummm yeah , this location is the ONLY one that seems to understand the art of super potato burritos. I know if I'm getting Big City in FOCO that I don't have to worry about it being made right. Perfectly fried potatoes filled to the brim with strawberry habanero sauce and ranch. A Ft. Collins classic.

  • Akina L.

My co worker was raving about this place which is why we decided to go. I wish we would've gone to chipotle instead, but maybe it was because I didn't order the potato burrito like she did. I ordered the carne burrito and there was a lot of meat in the burrito but it was too salty. I has to pay extra for avacado and sour cream and they were not generous with the portions. There was not even any lettuce to go on my burrito , which was dissaponting. Next time go for the potato burrito I guess.

    (2)
  • Melissa P.

i don't think it matters what mean you choose (although the carnitas was delish), but make sure you try the potato filling (seasoned potatoes, grilled onions, ranch & cheddar cheese). I don't think you'll ever go back to anything else. Lots of paper towels and a big cup of water pair with this nicely. I'm salivating just thinking of my last visit here!

  • Amanda Z.

Underwhelmed. Ok taste but not classic burrito options. Service was lousy--chatting in the back while we waited to pay. No gracias.

  • Amanda B.

I love BCB like I love lamp. Fat Tuesday was a favorite day of the week in college just because of their potato burrito. Their carne asada+ranch is a delightful combo. On top, it's your standard burrito. But once you reach the end of your om-nom-worthy burrito, you realize the ranch and meat have somehow miraculously combined to create a beef stroganoff. It's like two meals for one. What lady (or man, let's not discriminate) doesn't like that? Downside: Not a ton of seating, but it's more of a grab-and-go place. Also, there's a line usually, but it goes quickly. Use the time to C-walk and impress your fellow patrons. They'll be glad you did.

  • Charley C.

I am a big fan of breakfast burritos. This place is on the ball with their burrito creation, assembly line and pricing. They have all the goodies to go inside the burrito and the selection of about 50 or more hot sauces is just too much fun. Its just a burrito, but it is a good burrito and I will be coming back as often as I can while I am here in beautiful Fort Collins. Yum!

    (5)
  • Raygina K.

Overall the food is good. The burritos are huge and I generally don't finish one in one sitting. Got the deep fried cheesecake last night. It's okay but not worth the cost. If you want dessert, go to Walrus.

Get the potato burrito. Don't come here looking for gourmet, but it's a nice, quick and easy meal.

  • Mandah C.

I would give one star if it was just me. My husband raves about this place. I dont get it. I'm a woman... Obviously I am going to change my mind about what I want three times in three minutes. I have never heard of BCB... I asked what the employee recommended... He said a potato burrito. I said what comes in it? He said potato. Holy shit! No way?!!? Just potato?!! I dont even remember what I got.... I just remember the beef was so watery and disgusting... I had maybe four bites. I didnt want to say anything or get another kind because obviously the lovely employee was rude from the get go as well as they looked like they hated their job and made no eye contact and had no personality. I had to ask three times for a straw. Ehhhh. Would I give it a second chance? Probably for my husbands sake. If it was JUST me..... Would I!? No.

**WARNING FOR VEGANS OR THOSE WITH DAIRY ALLERGIES** Big City Burrito puts SOUR CREAM in their guacamole. WHY?? And, since guacamole is generally a vegan/dairy-free food there should be some kind of warning on their menu. There is not. I was very distressed to learn (after the fact) that several times I had eaten what I considered to be a vegan meal (veggie burrito/no cheese/guac) that I had in fact consumed dairy. It was only the THIRD time I ordered this type of burrito that someone mentioned the dairy in the guacamole. Not cool. For a good vegan burrito, go to Matador where non-diary guacamole is included for no extra charge.

The Fort Collins location is really the only BCB location to go to. Something about the grease on the walls and the turkey fryer burners on the floor really do enhance the experience. That and they're busy, so the food hasn't been sitting around forever. The Boulder location is decent, but the Loveland one is depressing. The one drawback to BCB is it does get very busy, and it's not a large location - if you hit the lunch rush, expect a wait and to take your burrito to go. Obviously BCB does not compete with a real Mission burrito, so if you're looking for ultra-authentic burritos, take a trip to San Francisco. But when it comes to the Colorado chains this is significantly better than the competition. I say this as a big fan of Chipotle that I would rather drive to BCB (20+ minutes) than go to the Chipotle that is a 5 minute walk from where I live. I can't really compare it to Qdoba because I've never had anything worth mentioning at Qdoba. All the meat options at BCB are tasty, but the real kicker is the potatoes. If you go to BCB you should definitely get a side of potatoes on every burrito. The flavored tortillas are great, the salsas are awesome, and they have a huge pile of hot sauces that they'll gladly slather all over your burrito. I wish the other locations were as good as this one, but the Fort Collins BCB definitely gets five stars.

    (5)
  • Chris D.

I've been to this place twice and have loved each time. The potato burrito was perfect and the other one was also great. They take Moocho now which makes it even better. Plus...the hot sauce choices are ridicules. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

I am from Portland... and my wife (who is from Fort Collins) and I drove all the way to Colorado for a potato burrito. Ok, well, we really drove to see my sister-in-law's new baby... but the burrito was a close #2 reason why. Been here now multiple times and I just love their potato burrito. There simply isn't anything else out there that is as tasty, satisfying and delicious. The Fort Collins location is leaps and bounds better than the Greeley location. Part of the experience is the charm in finding a parking spot in front AND eating inside of the relatively small location. Love you, BCB. See you next time I make my way to Fort Collins. Hopefully, another sister-in-law can have a baby soon so I can make my way back..

I first hit up Big City back when they opened in 1994. A friend, Bill (now the manager) told me they had these killer burritos that were as big as your head and had tons of hot sauces (I live for heat). I swear that I was still eating that gargantuan meal for two solid days!! Go to Big City, order whatever you like, put as much or as little hot sauce in it, and you'll have a meal to remember and one that definitely won't cost you much!

4 stars just for the fabulous potato burrito since I haven't tried anything else. I got the regular size burrito with potato, carnitas, hot salsa and sour cream. The fried potato squares are the perfect bite size and had a nice coating of salt and pepper. The carnitas is just as well seasoned and very tender. The hot salsa is the best I have had in Fort Collins so far. While my burrito is not what I would call traditional, the salsa tastes very authentic, similar to what I'm used to at Mexican taquerias in California. I really enjoyed this burrito and will gladly come back again.

  • Paul N.

It's amazing the variety of burritos and salsas that they are able to serve up in this tiny store-front space. I go there for one reason, the burritos rock and the price is cheap (oh wait, that is two reasons. Never was good at math). Nuf said.

Delicious potato burritos! If you're looking for a burrito in FOCO go here! Also, on Tuesday they have specials on their burritos, they are only $5!

I can only speak for the potato burrito.

  • Adam W.

Great California-Style Burrito place! What that means is, potatoes in the burrito! (If you want them...) Such great flavors. Everything is seasoned and flavorful, so no matter what options/toppings/fillings you choose, you're getting deliciousness. Don't forget them for breakfast either, they make a HUGE breakfast burrito with eggs and potatoes, breakfast meat, plus their other salsas, picos, and sauces.

Tried the potato burrito. Very Good. Ordering is a little confusing considering the wide variety of choices of everything. However, the girl at the counter was very patient and helpful. The green sauce is delishous and spicy!

  • Nick D.

Big city burrito is awful in my opinion. You are way better off going to chipoltle or qudoba. I have been here a few times and I have always been somewhat disappointed with the food. Its not really bad but its not really all that good either.

    (3)
  • Marcus V.

I love this place. I have eaten here for the last 20 years. I find it blasphemous that Big City Burrito would ever have a review by any human being under 5 stars!

  • Clint H.

When i was taught the correct way to order a burrito at this place, my life changed, for the better. I love their potato burrito...i remember my old roomate telling me how delicious they were "and they only have potatoes in them!" My tastebuds had no idea what they were in for when push came to shove, i was mesmorized, however, their best burrito is the breakfast burrito: I've eaten many breakfast burritos, MANY. I am a breakfast burrito enthusiast...and this is amongst the best breakfast burritos one can get...anywhere. Drizzle on the green chili for the flavor and the extra spice, and you will think Jesus wrapped your burrito himself...long live BIG CITY!

I'm fairly certain that if given the opportunity, I would move back to FoCo just for BCB. It is a staple of the food culture in this amazing college town. The thought of a potato burrito on a jalapeno cheddar tortilla is tempting me to buy a place ticket to Colorado at this very moment. Clearly, I am a big fan! True, it is a bit of a hole in the wall. But sometimes the best places fall into this category :)

  • Steve C.

I can't say enough good things about Big City. The burritos are amazing, the salsas are great, meat is always really good, and the hot sauce bar is outstanding. Avoid the windsor location, but the original Fort Collins location is top notch. Lines can be long during lunchtime on Tuesday due to specials, so be prepared to wait a little.

I'm originally from SoCal. So yes, I know what real Mexican food tastes like. The heart of LA county teems with honest to goodness "familia style" comida!!! This place rocks! Ordered the "super burrito" size and it's seriously enough to feed two hungry people! Great service and no complaints whatsoever. This is authentic to the core; come here for good Mexican eats!

  • Joe J.

Burritos serisouly done right. The potato burritos are the best. Salsas and sauces are just right. I really enjoy stopping here on the way through town. My only thumbs down is the long long lines. Speed it up and it will be 5/5 stars. There is nothing wrong with the staff, food, or location, just the long lines.

  • Rhett G.

Having just come from San Francisco, I expected disappointment from a Fort Collins burrito. However, it really was quite excellent. I had a Chicken Mole burrito, which wasn't quite as mole-ey as I hoped, but the plentiful hot sauces well made up for it. I feel like I probably should have gone for the potato, but presented with all these options I panicked. Well, the weekend is young, there is still hope.

YUMMY! I live in Boulder, and came in by accident; I was lost and needed directions somewhere. Not only were they very nice and helpful, they made me the greatest burrito ever for a very affordable price. Who knew that a fairly simple looking joint could make mouth watering food, AND carry free sides of gourmet hot sauce? Now, if only they had some strong happy hour margaritas, my life would be complete! Next time I'm back in Fort Collins, you bet I'll be stopping back in here! Go Big City, I love you (and please open one in Boulder or Denver?)!

Took a trip to fort collins just to get some big city. My husband remembered it from his college days and wanted some nostalgia. I was skeptical that it could really be much different from chipotle. It's a dive and is next to a dollar store. The store front isn't impressive. The burritos however are delicious and much better than a chipotle. I had a mix of carnitas and chile verde. My husband had the potato burrito. Both were awesome. they had a big pot of chicken mole bubbling on the stove so the place feels authentic and not at all like a chain although they do have other locations. I also love that you can pick your tortilla and the choices include wheat. This was probably the best burrito I've had but my burrito experience consists of chipotle, qdoba, and moe's.

Good ol Big Shitty Burrito. Nothing cures a hard Saturday night like a 3 pound burrito log to the gut. Potato burrito, with everything they offer, DO IT. Your tastebuds will thank you

There will always be a special place in my heart for the Big City Potato Burrito. Fried potato cubes with salsa, cheddar cheese, grilled onions and ranch, wrapped up in a tortilla. Yummy, yummy, YUMMY! It's possible that I have had other burritos there, but I don't remember any of them. The potato burrito overshadows all. I really liked BCB when I lived in Ft. Collins. Friendly staff, TONS of hot sauce to choose from if you like it hot, good selection of drinks, and they make the burrito right there in front of you, so you can say "can I have a little more rice on that," or whatever you want to tweak. The burritos are giamongous, too. You can even get them bigger than giamongous and get a super burrito. They even have directions for you, in case you can't figure out how to eat such a huge burrito. "Grab it, peel it, eat it, repeat it." How thoughtful!

The potato burrito was good. I can't believe people are talking about cleanliness. You want to talk about cleanliness and health codes? You just may be one of the customers that ordered meat on a sandwich! A dead filthy animal that had its life force drained from it for you to complain about it then on Yelp. You should take a page out of the old Native American books and be glad for the animal that died for your survival.

The potato burrito with chicken mole is amazing. Seriously! I lived in Fort Collins for 5 years and went here every chance I got. Now I live in Seattle, which has amazing food but no where compares with Big City's Burritos. I go back every time I visit Colorado and have even tried to convince friends to bring me a burrito when they come to visit. Maybe I can get them to overnight FedEx me one...

This place is a fixture in Fort Collins, and a wonderful place to eat! With limited seating, it's best to go on off-hours or getting your burrito to go. While the lines are typically long, the friendly staff moves things along pretty quickly and you can find yourself out with a burrito in-hand within minutes. I would suggest first trying other flavors besides that potato burrito, because once you get the potato burrito you won't order anything else! The prices are very reasonable and are competitive with the bigger burrito chains in town.

  • J W.

Big City Burrito: Mutha' Fucking Awesome. Sure the staff can be a bit on the fucktard side and the lines are long, but when you get ahold of the massive custom ordered burritos, everything is beautiful. Cheap, super filling, and a great cure for a hangover.

I also don't get the popularity of this place! When my son was visiting from California, that was the ONLY place he wanted to go. I figured there must be something special about it, given the long lines of people waiting outside. I tried it and would never go back except that now my duaghter is hooked. Go figure! I, too, think it seems so dirty, but the last health inspection gave them a "Good", so I guess it's not that bad.

The wait in line is worth it...dig in. About a year ago, I moved to the burbs of L.A. from Fort Fun. I still miss Big City's Breakfast Burrito. Go eat one and think of me.

I'm not going to lie, some days I just want a carnitas and potato burrito smothered in some various hot sauce all thrown together by a questionable looking burrito bar attendant. This place is cheap, filling and when you figure out the right combo, pretty delish. The downside? Well, cooking whatever the heck it is they cook in those large bubbling pots in the back.......on the floor stoves or whatever mcgyvered appliances they have there really makes you worry. The kitchen is visible behind the cashier and their cooking methods are questionable at best by the health department. I've also had a friend get really sick of a chicken mole burrito before. We have yet to determine if it was the food or just a sensitive stomach deal. It's good. But just beware, burrito may came back to haunt you.

definitely one of the better whole in the wall burrito joints i have ever been too. a very simple menu of burritos, quesadillas and tacos with a wide variety of authentic types of mexican meats. you'll get a large portion of food for a great price. the staff is fast and efficient. a constant long line of customers, so be ready to order and order quickly. i tried the super burrito with carnitas and extra meat. this thing was huge and worth every dollar. the carnitas were tender and juicy and when they say extra meat, they freakin' mean it. jammed packed to the brim. my friends say you have to get the potatoes as an add on because they are awesome. also the bay leaf chicken is extremely good. gives you that sense of chicken meat from a good homestyle chicken noodle soup.

I give Big City Burrito a lot of respect for serving the food they serve. It is perfect for a college town, and definitely perfect for college students. The Superb: The selection of hot sauces available (wow!) and the assortment of tortillas. The Average: Their meats are OK, nothing spectacular, but still tasty. The Horrid: The man sweating into the beans when he was stirring them just off the cooks line. Seriously. Sweat was DRIPPING into the beans. *urp* The final blow came when I was about half way through my burrito and found 2 really nice curly hairs mixed in with the rice. I hope they were from someones head and not rogue pubes. Either way, that was my last trip to B.C.B. Leave it to the young kids that are going for quantity over quality and those that just don't know any better.

Four and half stars. You should try BC burrito if you are in CO. It is a franchise but only in a few states. If you thought Chipotle has good quality juicy meat, you will think again once you try BC. I'm not a meat-person but Chicken mole was must-try!! Also if you like potato, try breakfast burrito or potato burrito. you don't get this often at other similar mexican/tex-mex places. I don't know if it's perfect balance of all the ingredient, much well-seasoned ingredient or just perfect secret recipe but you will NOT regret (in fact so happy) to have burrito at BC. Don't miss it. (and don't get addicted to it :) )

The happiest (burrito) place on Earth. This is as good as burritos get. My recommendation: phat Tuesday potato burrito with cheese and onions, add carnitas, regular pico, tomatillo, ranch, and lots of the green chile in the bottle. Awesome!!!

Try the 100% Pain hot sauce, it's amazing!!! Anyways this is my second time going, and I'm so glad my bf insists on taking me here! So yummy and I actually like the ambiance.

This has been my favorite burrito joint for years when I was in Boulder as well as the 2 years I lived in Fort Colins. I moved away from Fort Collins 5 months ago to San Francisco, the supposed Mecca for burritos. No matter how many burritos I have had, it hasn't shaken my love of Big City. I decided to wait on my review until I had a chance to go back so I would not just be waxing nostalgic and recounting my dreams of potato burrito bliss. I had my usual burrito tonight and my belly is happy. I love the salsas since they are delicious and the hot ones are actually hot, I then grab a few bottles of hot sauce and slather it on every bite. I really think that the potato burrito with black beans and lots of salsa is the best thing to ever be rolled in a spinach tortilla.

  • Mike M.

This burrito location is a sight for sore eyes for a man tired of all the chipotles out there. Not only does it have nice reasonable prices for burritos 5-6 dollars but it has tasty sides for under a dollar. Tons of hot sauce and a fun staff

  • Jon K.

Just tried Big City Burrito for the first time tonight and was impressed. I expected a more generic and less tasty burrito given the price and the portioning but it was pretty good! I chose the potato super burrito with beans, rice, pico de gallo, and havenero sauce for a cheap ~$6. The potatoes were well-seasoned and tasty, but the sauce was probably the high point. I did try some of the bottled hot sauces on hand, but I can't say they were needed--the burrito wasn't bland to begin with, which I've come to expect from many places. Glad to say this isn't one of those. The only thing I could complain about it that adding the pico de gallo makes for a somewhat water-y burrito that will leak, so use that foil to support your burrito or maybe just pass on the pico. Even as a big fan of Chipotle and a veteran of taquerias in California, I think this place has a great and unique taste to offer. Though not spectacular, I'd eat here again.

  • Zach G.

Potato burrito, seriously? Oh yes, seriously. Seriously amazingly delicious, unhealthy and cheap. The place is a hole in the wall, but a tasty hole in the wall. It comes quickly, it comes cheaply, and it comes with all the poundage you need to soak up last nights incorrect decision to keep ordering drinks.

  • Clare M.

I never GOT this place. Everyone would rave about their burritos and how delicious they were. So, being from New Mexico I decided to judge for myself on how good a burrito was. I stood in line and was asked what flavor wrap I wanted...WTF? Wrap? I want a friggin plain-ass flour tortilla! They ask me what kind of beans, meat, rice, etc. Then, THEN they have the nerve to put ranch dressing on it? Ranch dressing in a burrito? I was actually offended. Long story much shorter because I don't want to give Big Shitty Burrito any more of my time, it sucks.

    (1)
  • James D.

Simply stated, this place is dang good. Potato burrito is the number one item for a reason and their deals on Tuesday's make it even tastier. Would have given it four stars if they would get the flies out of the building.

I spent a week in Ft. Collins in July 2011 after not being the in the town for about 10 years. This is coming from an LA denizen: Big City is downright great! I went there three times. They have a wide range of burrito types. It's built to order so experiment. Vege w/ black and pinto beans, and rice is my favorite. Salsas are very good....try the tomatillo one. Setting is your typical burrito joint. Get in line, order your hash, get it, eat it. Staff is very nice. Burritos are solid!

I am not so sure why this place always has a line of people outside of the door. In all honesty, i wanted to kno what the hype was all about. and i have to admit that i am not impressed whats so ever. like sarah and michel said, this place was a bit dingy looking. but im not one to judge based soley on that. ive ate at many dingy places and found the food to be amazing. however, the potatoe burrito was definitly under par from what i expected. it is safe to say i will not be returning to this place.

Place was packed when we showed up, which is usually a good sign. Sorta weird on how to order but they have directions. Their chicken burrito bowl was very spicy. Very limited seating, so if it's packed you may to get it to go.

Love love love their burritos! Potatoes, chicken, beef, whatever is great. I wish I lived closer and could go more often. I'm also a huge fan of the hot sauces.

  • Kellly D.

This place always has long lines, but lemmings are lemmings. Been to both the FC and Boulder store 1 time, both were equally rank. Contrary to some of these reviews, being an SoCal native this is nothing like an SoCal burrito or anything relating to real mexican food for that matter-- wrap types, ranch dressing, and american slice cheese? Seriously people!

A terrible burrito experience. The food tasted old. Avoid this place

  • Kelly H.

So I definitely don't consider what I order at Big City to be authentic Mexican food by any means, but it's delicious food nonetheless. I always order the same thing: a regular potato burrito on a jalapeno-cheese tortilla, with cheese, sauteed onions, ranch dressing, mild pico de gallo, and one/two stripes of their specialty "green" sauce, as I call it. This burrito is delicious, always tastes the same, and is utterly crave-able. Although there usually is a substantial line at BCB, and the place looks a little bit "shady" to say the least, it's worth getting past these minor details in order to enjoy an amazing burrito.

Burritos are to Fort Collins like maize was to the early Native Americans. It's a staple food here and everyone is looking for the best place to grab one. Is it the fact that we live in a college town? It is just a regional thing? What is it with Fort Collins and burritos? I don't know. All I know is that I like to eat them. If there's ever a debate about food here in Fort Collins, it's about two things and one of them is where to get the best burrito in town. I've had burritos from all over and we always come back and crave the same place. Big City Burrito. Everyone has their own personal favorite burrito and some of the combinations are endless, especially considering the huge collection of hot sauces available on display by the front door. My personal favorites? For breakfast I love a wheat tortilla with eggs, potatoes, carne asada and pico de gallo. It's a simple burrito that packs a peppery, juicy punch. You really aren't going to get anything like this at the big-named corporate Tex-Mex burrito places like Qdoba or Chipotle. A down-side to Big City? You're not going to get the clean updated eating atmosphere as a corporation either. Big City truly is a hole in the wall; small, hot and a bit grimy, but they always seem to do well during health inspections. Big City Burrito has been a Fort Collins favorite for many years and I have a feeling that it will continue to be for quite some time.

One of the most popular places in Fort Collins and consistently considered the best burrito around. I tend to go there for its Phat Tuesday special where we get a potato burrito and drink for fairly cheap. I definitely go for the potato burrito and the atmosphere, which really seems to fit the younger crowd that frequents there. It's fast, it's tasty, and while I think there are better burritos out there, the value you get for the money is hard to beat.

    (5)
  • Alden C.

The burritos here are huge! LOL! That is what they are known for. You better go here hungry for sure...or at least get the remainder of your burrito in a cooler or a refrigerator for sure if you can't eat it all. A good ,inexpensive place to go for college students.

    (4)
  • Kyle E.

I don't get the hype with this potato burrito everyone raves about in Fort Collins. A potato burrito is something I make when I have no money, no groceries, and the only thing left in the kitchen is a sack of potatoes and a half hardened mission bell tortilla. I like to give my business to the local estabs as much as possible, but in this case I am sticking with Chipotle.

delicious. recommended to me from a local. ordered the potato burrito with ranch sauce. never had a potato burrito before and it was awesome. love the college feel to the place. staff is helpful, but prompt. gotta keep the line moving, you know. would love to go back and try the other offerings.

I avoided this place for years because my high school buddies called it, "Big *hitty Burrito", so I figured there was a good reason behind that. Meanwhile we were eating disgusting 39 cent hamburgers from the Old hamburger stand that used to be on the same street. Burgers we'd take five bites out of and chuck out the window, because they were disgusting- but WHAT A DEAL! Meanwhile, Big City Burrito could've massaged my tastebuds with their awesomeness- damn my friends! I went back because a childhood friend told me I HAD to try the potato burrito with ranch. It sounded incredible/disgusting. Inside a stoner guy said to his co-worker buddy, "I'm really hurting right now" because he was hungover, but he perked up when I told him how working a shift after a party night always sucked. He said he was actually in a good mood, and that his shift was almost over anyway. He hooked me up because I told him to design the burrito like he was making it for himself. Lots of salsa verde...lot of sour cream...the ranch...the amazingness. I took a picture of the giant burrito at home because it looked about a Chipotle size- but strangely more intimidating. Spinach tortilla gave it the vivid green. It was a messy and gooey concoction, but yes, really fricken good. I cut it in half and was full before I finished it- I stopped at half because my stomach was throwing up red flags left and right. Luckily, it accepted the potato bomb, and smothered my tastebud orgasm with a pillow. Sorry, that's disgusting, I'm just trying to write an entertaining review. It was a damn good burrito. I'm sure for stoners it's even better- probably perfect for the late night munchies. I took it home, but the inside of the joint was pretty underwhelming- like walking into a deli- just kinda plain. Who cares, you want to take these babies HOME. Thank you Big City Burrito.

  • Christine L.

Eh, it's okay. The pluses: it's cheap, it has a lot of sauces, it has a variety of tortillas to choose from. The minuses: the carne asada is too salty, they are miserly on the guac, and the guac isn't even that good. It's not the place I'd go to first for a burrito.

    (3)
  • Stephanie K.

Big City Burrito is where I'll be! Man this place is just made for the stoners. Huge f-ing burritos loaded with all the toppings. Yeah, this isn't even close to real Mexican, but I don't care. This burrito can actually be split between two people and fill them up until the munchies come back. I'm no pothead, but if I was, this would be my go to place. Perfect for a late night snack after a drunk night on the town.

I wish I lived in Fort Collins sometimes...and Big City Burrito is one of the reasons why. Someone needs to develop something like this near me...I'd be there at least once a week! The potato burrito...yummy! I like how I get to pick what type of tortilla I want, what extras I want such as sour cream, guacamole or both if you are me!!!! Seating is limited but whatever and parking isn't wasy but this place is worth it! I am positive any burrrito from here would be tasty.!

I go every weekend for a breakfast burrito - the best one in Fort Collins in my opinion! If you like Chipotle or Qdoba then this may not be the place for you - it's definitely more authentic Mexican Food than either of those places. A darn tasty treat every single time - I LOVE Big City Burrito!

  • Jon B.

On lonely nights I close my eyes and dream of a Big City Burrito. They are so delicious and satisfying that I cannot think of much better food options on earth. I love the mole sauce on a chicken burrito with the potatoes. Yes, the potatoes are the best part of the burrito in my mind. Since I live in Milwaukee, I am most accustomed to burritos from Chipotle and Qdoba. Big City blows them out of the water. While there are differences in the elements, the most dramatic are the potatoes. Yes, I really love the potatoes. I can't write more thoughts on Big City... I want a burrito now.

Aw good old Big Shitty Burrito. That loving nickname we gave this place actually does have some reflection of the burritos. They definitely are big and thick; and while I won't go so far as calling them 'shitty', the burritos are sloppily stuffed. I have many memories of having extremely messy hands due to the abundance of dripping oozing juices from their burritos. Following a mantra of quantity over quality, the ingredients aren't too flavorful; but they give you a ton of it. Oh, and don't forget the ever-flowing amounts of ranch dressing they put in every burrito I ever had here: is this a salad or a burrito. They do however have an impressive assortment of hot sauces: probably to give their numbing flavors at least something to remember. I always loved to sample the hot sauces with my meals here. The hot sauces are definitely the highlight of the coming here. While it may seem I am bashing the place, well I probably am, it did make for an quick and easy take-out. They are generous with the portions, but they do need to give some kind of wet-naps or something. For course, it's a big hit with the college crowd since it is cheap and plentiful. Although after finishing one of these behemoths, you'll probably feel like something between a beached whale and a sluggish sloth. Sloppy and cheap: savior of college kids' hunger.

By far my favorite place for burritos in Fort Collins. I feel in love with this place the first time my BF brought me here 7 years ago and it continues to me my comfort burrito of choice. There are crazy various ways to make your very own specialty burrito from the tortillas to the finishing salsas and toppings. All of the ingredients are fresh and the staff is always welcoming. Don't be intimidated by the never ending choices available here- that's what makes it fun! My favorite burrito at the moment- potato Carnita burrito on jalapeno cheddar with black beans, pico, house hot sauce (you gotta try it!), ranch with a little guac on the side.... YUM!

    (5)
  • Darcy N.

Classic Fort Collins, good food, cheap prices, huge portions, fun (and always extremely high) kids making the food, awesome hot sauce selection & the 2am bar crowd is always good for some entertainment. C'mon, it has stayed in business for years and it's even across the street from Chipotle (where it's just not quite as fun and the staff isn't quite as high)!

  • kari b.

Well, yes this place is dirty, this place is not authentic (although i am pretty sure burritos were not invented in Mexico anyhow) I will say, you do have to judge it by the the huge (quick moving) line out the door sometimes. The burritos are one of a kind, fried potatoes cheese and ranch dressing... uh yum, and if you have a hangover, sometimes nothing else will do , and i do mean nothing. This place is dangerously addicting. TIP- don't waste your time on rice, beans, sour cream and guac. Its all about the ranch, cheese and potatoes. Warning- This is not recommended for people at risk for heart disease:)

  • douglas B.

I have heard from some people they they don't like the burritos here but those are the same people that think taco bell is good mexican food. I will tell you this the last time i had a friend in Fort collins i paid him 20 dollars to buy a cooler and bring me back a burrito. Sure its not as good as the day you buy it but its still better than anything here. AND THATS A DAY AFTER THEY MADE IT!

We moved from fort collins three years ago and still dream of the potato burrito. It is like a mythical diety that slowly enters your mind floating in on a cloud with sunlight twinkling the edges and a symphony majestically playing in the distance. Oh, yeah. It's that good.

  • Bryan B.

It is local, it has become a chain, and it is awesome! They make burritos, and they make them well. It seems this has become a FTC favorite, as most of my friends absolutely have to make a stop at big city any time they are in town. It's a small, simple, tasty place to eat. If you want a burrito, go try Big City. You won't be disappointed. At least I hope not. And if you want my "best burrito ever invented" Get a Tomato-Chili tortilla, with cheese, potatoes, carnitas, and a squirt of hot sauce.....mmm mmm heaven! They make tasty breakfast burritos too. Some reviews seem to point to the fact that big city is the greatest burrito place in the history of the world....sadly I don't think that is true, but it's still good. It looks a little drab on the inside, but that is part of it's "charm". I'm not going to rave that all of their food is "the best you'll ever taste" or to "Never go anywhere else", because I have had a lot of good burritos over the years from a lot of different places. But I have never had a BAD burrito from Big City. PS - Parking sometimes sucks out front when College Ave. is busy, but the easiest place to park is the alley 1 block east of College. (Turn EAST on Mulberry and take you very first right turn.) You'll be behind big city and can take the little "tunnel" between buildings and be at the front door with no hassle.

Cheap kind of crapo burritos with lots of potatoes. Plus the lines tend to be kind of long.

I used to live in Fort Collins, and I really miss that potato burrito.... It's 90 degrees outside on a hot, dry summer day in Colorado. You are hungry for BCB. You drive along College Avenue.....no parking in the front. You go around the corner and head to the rear parking. Yes! A spot. You get out of your car and walk toward the front, noticing there is a line out the door. The crowd there consists of mainly college-aged kids who are probably hung over and need some major nourishment from the previous night's hard partying. You finally make it inside the door. It's hot as hell in there, and there are probably a hundred bottles of hot sauce (every type known to man) sitting on a shelf in front of the window. Lord only knows where they've been, who has touched them, smelled them, licked them.... You look up and notice dozens of flies swarming everywhere, all avoiding the fly paper hung nearby. You are sweating and hoping the flies don't land on your forehead and get stuck.....The fans running nearby do little to cool you down. But....there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. You finally make it to the front of the line and order a potato burrito (the only burrito they serve worth waiting for in such circumstances--just my opinion). The melted cheese on a jalapeno tortilla with those caramelized onions are a must-have. If the potatoes are fresh and not over- or under-cooked (this is key folks), that burrito will satisfy you like no other. I always get the corn salsa and the ranch dressing. One line of their special hot sauce, guac and sour cream if you please, and you're ready for one delicious tasting burrito made in a hole in the wall with flies everywhere, by young college kids wearing no gloves. Ahhh, memories.....

It's ok. I had carnitas which was alot like Del Taco carnitas, lame. A regular sized burrito is kinda tiny. Their salsas behind the bar are ok (they don't have a salsa bar). Otherwise they have a bunch of Tabasco/Tapaito type sauces sitting out on a counter. So over priced & low quality.

    (2)
  • Stephanie H.

definitely the best and most unique burrito place of all time. I was a little skeptical going in the first time because it is kind of a "hole in the wall" looking place. But I had heard such good things about it. I had the chicken mole burrito the first few times I went there. Until my friend convinced me to try the potato burrito...I fell in love with it after my first bite and my addiction to big city soon began. Most amazing house green sauce that is the perfect amount of spicy-ness. Me and my friend would go here at least 2 times a week all through college....perfect library food for studying! I recently found one on the CU anschutz campus where I work in Denver and was ecstatic. It still just isn't as good as the one in foco. I think every person needs to try the big city potato burritos!
